Custom Homes and Barndomeniums

What steps do we take for you to start building our home?

First off, Jeremy would love to meet with you to discuss any questions on the construction of the new home along with the preferred style you would want like single or two-story, type of siding, roof material, etc. Then after Jeremy gets familiar with what style of home you would want then he would discuss the pricing per foot.

Secondly, either provide Jeremy with a floor plan that you have already in hand during the first meeting or if you don’t have floor plans and you would want to discuss it with a draftsman to help you draw one up, we can recommend one. We can also take your ideas, Jeremy can do a rough sketch of them on paper at the first meeting and then we can utilize our contracted draftsman to draw it up for you.

Jeremy would want to meet with you at your lot if you have one. This can also be done on the first meeting as well if you already have your plans in hand, this way Jeremy can look at the site and determine what type of dirt work would need to be done for the new pad of the home. This is also a good time to discuss if you are going to have a storm shelter, shop, or barn that either Jeremy will build or others may build on that site.

After the main floor plans are done and provided to us, we will then go over it and calculate the price per foot which is based on the design, materials, porches, square footage, etc. We will then provide you a bid for the cost of the house to build.

The next meeting would consist of any changes that you may want to do, discuss the cost, and make sure it is reflected in the main floor plan.

Finally once you have reviewed the building contract, bid and all parties have signed the contract, then that’s when the real work for Green & Son Builders begins. Jeremy would review the time frame, weather, look at the current schedule, and then within a few days get back to you on a rough start date. Typically to build a standard 2000 square foot semi-custom home will take anywhere between 6 to 9 months depending on weather and availability of materials. If you choose a higher-end custom home with more square footage, just know that it does add more time to the final finish date of your new home.
